Shenandoah University is mourning the loss of Keyshawn Wilder Sr., a beloved member of its community, who passed away unexpectedly.
Wilder, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, was a standout defensive back for the Shenandoah Hornets football team from 2019 to 2023. He earned All-Conference, All-State, and All-Region honors in his final two seasons and finished his playing career ranked second in program history for career interceptions.

Known for his leadership, passion for the game, and infectious energy, he became a mentor to many young athletes.
University President Tracy Fitzsimmons described him as “one of the hearts of Shenandoah’s football program”, recalling his ability to uplift teammates not only with his play, but also with his singing, dancing, and positive presence during team trips.
Shenandoah Athletics released a statement expressing its deep sorrow:
“Shenandoah Athletics mourns the passing of former @suhornetsfb student-athlete and assistant coach Keyshawn Wilder. His impact on our program and community will never be forgotten.”
